A former Myrtle Beach High standout will miss the rest of the college football season due to injury.
Virginia Tech will be without Bruce Taylor for the remainder of the season after the star linebacker suffered a season-ending foot injury in last Saturday’s victory over Boston College.
The 15th-ranked Hokies’ leading tackler the past two seasons, Taylor suffered a Linsfranc sprain and will undergo surgery later in the week. He is expected to take 6-8 weeks before putting any weight on his foot.
The Hokies’ defense has been ravaged by injuries so far in 2011, with linebacker Jeron Couveia-Winslow (foot) and defensive linemen Antoine Hopkins (knee) and Kwamaine Battle (knee) already out for the year.
Virginia Tech (7-1, 3-1 ACC) faces Duke this weekend.
