Make it a clean sweep for Myrtle Beach in its intra-county volleyball rivalry with North Myrtle Beach.
The Lady Seahawks swept the Lady Chiefs 3-0 for the third time this season on Tuesday night to add the Region VIII-AAA tournament title to their regular-season region championship.
The title game was closer than the previous two meetings, however, with Myrtle Beach winning 25-21, 25-22, 25-21 over the host Lady Chiefs.
Myrtle Beach’s Amy Wiggins was named the tournament’s MVP and she was joined on the all-tourney squad by teammate Meagan Milligan.
North Myrtle Beach was represented by Taylor Allman and Ellen Johnson, while Socastee’s Alison Markley and St. James’ Courtney Sturgill also earned all-tourney honors.
The Lady Seahawks, who beat Socastee in the semifinals, will carry a No. 1 seed into the Lower State tournament while North Myrtle Beach, which downed St. James in the semis, will be a No. 2 seed.
