Mark your calendars for Nov. 18, the date the South Carolina Warriors, the Grand Strand’s new ABA franchise, will make their debut at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.
The Warriors finalized their schedule Tuesday for the 2011-12 season, which tips off against the Carolina Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18.
The Warriors’ 15-game home schedule includes six stops at the convention center’s Lambo Arena and nine at Socastee High School’s “The Wave,” beginning with the second home game of the season on Dec. 3 against the East Point Jaguars.
Following the Nov. 18 opener, convention center dates include Dec. 13 vs. the Fayetteville Flight, Dec. 23 vs. the Carolina Jaguars, Jan. 2 vs Fayetteville and Jan. 4 vs. the Johnson City Mad Hatters.
After the Dec. 3 debut at The Wave, the Warriors will welcome the Athens Hoop Dawgs on Jan. 13, the Atlanta Express on Jan. 28, the Carolina Jaguars on Feb. 11, the Jacksonville Giants on Feb. 18 and the Carolina Cougars on March 3.
However, Socastee is scheduled to host rival Myrtle Beach on Jan. 13, so some adjustments must be made. The team also plans to host three games at The Wave against opponents to be announced – on Dec. 17, Jan. 22 and Feb. 25. The 30-game overall schedule involves road trips for 15 games.
So far the Warriors know whom they’ll play against, but not whom will play for the home team. The Warriors have signed four former Coastal Carolina University players – Colin StevensĀ Jack Leasure, Joseph Harris and Mario Edwards – one fewer than the required starting five.
The Warriors also have hired former Texas Tech assistant Chris Beard as its head coach and plans to add more players between now and opening night. Tickets are available at the team’s website, scwarriorsaba.com. Single-game ticket prices are $10 for adults and $5 for students, but larger season-ticket packages are also available at the team’s website, scwarriorsaba.com.
