Ann Mazur of Charlottesville, Va., won the Myrtle Beach Mini Marathon 5K on Saturday, finishing first among all men and women with a time of 17 minutes, 45 seconds.
The 26-year-old edged Tyler Pake of Beaufort, who was the top men’s finisher, by 2 seconds. He was the fastest male by more than 1 minute, while Mazur was almost 3 minutes ahead of the next female runner.
Mullin Tunde of Myrtle Beach was the top local finisher with a time of 20:53, good for second place in her age and gender division and 11th place overall.
Michael Pieterse of Myrtle Beach was the fastest local male, clocking a time of 21:13. The 13-year-old ran away with the junior division and was 14th overall, just fractions of a second ahead of sister Lisa Pieterse, who won the Females 15-19 division.
The 2nd Annual Myrtle Beach Mini Marathon, which benefits the Grand Strand Humane Society, will be held Sunday morning. More than 4,200 runners are registered to participate during the two-day event.
