S.C. Warriors’ roster lists six players from Palmetto State

Coastal Carolina basketball fans will see some familiar faces when the ABA’s South Carolina Warriors play their first game in franchise history on Nov. 18.

Four former Coastal players – guards Jack Leasure, Colin Stevens and Mario Edwards and forward Jo Harris – highlight the Warriors’ roster, which was released on Friday.

Although those four signings had been previously announced by the upstart franchise, the rest of the roster was not. It features a few big names among local fans as well.

Former College of Charleston star guard Tony White Jr. and forward Dustin Scott will suit up for the Warriors, along with six others who attended college outside the Palmetto State.

Guards Mike Volger (Troy), Curtis Thomas (Indiana Tech) and Fred Peete (New Mexico State) and swingmen Alex Chapman (Vanguard), Marquise Gainous (Texas Christian) and John Fowler (Arkansas-Little Rock) round out the roster.

The Warriors will play their inaugural game on Nov. 18 at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center against the Carolina Jaguars. The first-year franchise also plans to play home games at Socastee High.
