The Bruins are the lone undefeated team in region play at 2-0, while the Tigers are 1-1 and in position to claim a tie for first with the tiebreaker in their pockets.
Conway QB Mykel Moody is coming off a six-touchdown performance and will be the top target for the South Florence defense, but Moody stays hot and delievers a big home win. … Conway 27, South Florence 24.
* Carolina Forest at Sumter: The Panthers have proven they can hang with the elite of Region VIII-AAAA. Now it’s time to prove they can beat them.
Carolina Forest fell to South Florence on the road last week but had an extra day to prepare for the Gamecocks, who also are 1-1 in the region.

* North Myrtle Beach at St. James: The Chiefs are looking to snap their 20-game losing streak and this might be their last best chance before the cold spell stretches into another season.
But the 2-6 Sharks also are hungry for a victory and the Chiefs are a sign of relief after a difficult schedule in 2011. Look for this one to come down to the wire. … St. James 20, North Myrtle Beach 17.
* Socastee at Wilson: A season of heartbreak is winding down for the Braves, who have lost four games this season by a touchdown or less.
Wilson is the third party in contention for the Region VIII-AAA title and will need to win to stay in the hunt for at least a share of the crown.
Socastee’s spirits may be low after so many near-misses this season, but they give the Tigers all they can handle and more in another close call. … Wilson 24, Socastee 21.
