George was named the league’s Defensive Player of the Week for making a career-high seven tackles, an interception, a quarterback sack and a forced fumble against the Bucs.
George recorded a sack-fumble that CCU recovered and returned to set up one score. With less than a minute remaining and Coastal clinging to its seven-point lead, George picked off a pass at the Chants’ 1-yard line and returned it 16 yards to seal the win over the Buccaneers.
Meanwhile, Mastromatteo was named the Special Teams Player of the Week for returning two kickoffs for 64 yards and two punts for 14 yards. He also became the Big South’s career leader for punt returns during the game.
