Full slate of pro, college and prep hoops tips off tonight

After four months of high school football dominating the Friday night sports scene, basketball takes center court on the Grand Strand tonight.

Pro, college and high school hoops are all on tap, with the ABA’s SC Warriors trying to improve to 9-0 in a pair of home games Friday and Saturday at the North Strand Recreation Center. They take on the Columbus RiverBallers tonight.

The Warriors, who are currently ranked No. 3 in the ABA’s power rankings, are led by several former Coastal Carolina players, including leading scorer Jack Leasure.

Meanwhile, the current Chanticleers (8-1) will return to the hardwood tonight for the first time in 10 days with a home game at Kimbel Arena against Lynchburg (7-3).

The Hornets are averaging more than 90 points per game but Coastal Carolina is currently ranked second in the NCAA in rebound margin (+12.2) and third in field goal percentage (53 percent).

High school hoops also is on tonight’s sports menu, with rivals Carolina Forest and Myrtle Beach meeting in a rematch at the Seahawks’ home. The Panthers topped the Seahawks last week while the two-time defending state champion Lady Seahawks narrowly held off the Lady Panthers.

Other high school double headers tonight includes North Myrtle Beach at Conway, and Socastee visiting Carvers Bay.
