Myrtle Beach stars Brown, Sessions outshine Mullins

The Myrtle Beach High girls basketball team got a big boost from its two stars on Thursday night as the visiting Lady Seahawks defeated Mullins 61-50.

Khadijah Sessions scored 31 points and Tanisha Brown chipped in 20 as the Myrtle Beach duo outscored the entire Lady Auctioneers’ team combined, 51-50.

But the two Lady Seahawks’ stars did more damage than on the scoreboard. The senior Sessions also had eight rebounds and six steals, and the junior Brown recorded her second straight double-double, adding 16 rebounds to her 20 points and contributing five assists.

Myrtle Beach improved to 2-0 on the season and will welcome the Lady Auctioneers for a rematch on Tuesday, when the Lady Seahawks will play their first home game since winning their second straight state championship last March.

* Boys: The Seahawks suffered their first defeat of the season at Mullins on Thursday night, 76-61. No further details were provided. Myrtle Beach hosts Mullins again on Tuesday.
