The St. James boys basketball team had to work overtime to earn its first victory of the season Tuesday night at the Shark Tank, defeating Andrews 71-67 in overtime.
Caleb Duggan scored a game-high 30 points, including a 14-for-16 night at the free throw line, to lead the Sharks (1-3) to victory. He was perfect on all eight attempts during the overtime period.
The Sharks, who had to rally from a fourth-quarter deficit to force the extra period, also got 12 points from Jacob Wright. They return to action Thursday night at Waccamaw.
* Girls: The St. James girls basketball team improved to a perfect 5-0 on the season with an easy 61-32 victory over visiting Andrews.
Stephanie Roberts led the Lady Sharks with her third double-double of the season, scoring 12 points and adding 10 rebounds.
St. James got a balanced scoring effort, with Brianna Rodriguez and Charisma Rodriguez scoring nine points apiece and Brianna Dickerson and Monica Smalls contributing eight each.
The Lady Sharks travel to Waccamaw on Thursday.
