SC Warriors improve to 5-0

The South Carolina Warriors improved to 5-0 over the weekend with a 107-98 victory over the Carolina Jaguars in Durham, N.C.

Former Coastal Carolina standout Jack Leasure led the Warriors with 21 points and former College of Charleston star Dustin Scott added 18. Mario Edwards, Jo Harris and John Roberson also made it to double figures with 10 points apiece.

The Warriors found themselves involved in a rare close contest after winning their previous two games in blowouts. The Warriors led 57-50 at halftime and were able to maintain a relatively safe margin the rest of the way.

“We stressed consistency all week in practice as we prepared for tonight’s game,” Warriors coach Chris Beard said. “We wanted to compete for four quarters both on offense and defense. I was pleased with our effort tonight, but not satisfied. I want to be good in March.”

The Warriors have climbed to No. 4 in the ABA’s power rankings entering Saturday’s road game in Tennessee. They return for a three-game homestand on Dec. 13, 16 and 17.
