St. James had three wrestlers win their respective weight divisions and narrowly missed winning the North Myrtle Beach Classic on Saturday.
The Sharks’ Codi Rothermel (138), John Vanslooten (145) and Derek Rothermel (152) claimed championships in the 22-team tournament as St. James tallied 223 team points, just eight behind first-place White Knoll (231).
The Sharks had six wrestlers reach the finals, with Mason Elliott (126), Jamie Bolduc (132) and Austin Brown (220) settling for second place. Gregg Johnson (170) took third and Deante Salaam (182) and Hunter Brandon (195) finished fourth.
Host North Myrtle Beach posted an eighth-place showing with Hampton Harmon (182) and Jonathan Bracey (275) finishing second and Joey Small (120) taking third place.
The Chiefs (106.5) placed behind third-place Chapin (150.5), Summerville (146) Dreher (126.5), Ashley Ridge (124) and South Brunswick (118.5), while Hanahan (86) and Wando (82.5) rounded out the top 10.
Myrtle Beach (82) finished 11th thanks to a third-place finish by Johnathan Iseman (112) and teammates Daniel Miller (152) and Amir Oukada (275) finishing fourth. Carolina Forest (46.5) placed 17th and had no wrestlers in the finals.




Hunter Brandon also placed 4th at 195 lbs. For St.James. We had 9 place winners. Go sharks!
