Booker helps Clemson rally from behind to beat Bucs

Devin Booker scored 22 points, and host Clemson rallied from nine points down early in the second half to beat East Tennessee State 66-58.

T.J. Sapp hit four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points for the Tigers (8-6), who closed the game on a 20-11 run in the final eight minutes. Booker added seven rebounds and four blocked shots.

East Tennessee State (5-7) took a 47-46 lead on Sheldon Cooley’s jumper with 7:44 to go. The Tigers responded with a Sapp 3-pointer and a Booker dunk, giving Clemson a 51-47 advantage with 5:49 to go.

Andre Young stretched the lead to 56-49 with a 3-pointer with 2:27 to go. Young just missed a triple double, scoring 12 points to go with eight rebounds and seven assists.

The Buccaneers led 39-30 three minutes into the second half on Jarvis Jones’ 3-pointer. Clemson crawled back, taking a 44-43 lead on Young’s 3-pointer with 11:47 to go.

Adam Sollazzo led East Tennessee State with 27 points. Tommy Hubbard scored 19 points with eight rebounds.

Clemson opens ACC play Saturday, hosting Florida State.
