Chants seek fifth straight win, revenge against Camels

The Coastal Carolina men’s basketball team will play the second game of a three-game homestand when it hosts Campbell at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Kimbel Arena.

Coastal enters the game riding a four-game winning streak, improving to 17-5 on the season after defeating Charleston Southern 71-58 on Saturday night.

The Chanticleers hold an 11-1 record in Kimbel Arena and are the only team in the Big South not to lose a home conference game.

The Chants (17-5 overall, 10-2 Big South) suffered one of its two Big South defeats this season to the Fighting Camels (15-11, 9-5). Campbell won the first meeting this season, a 70-65 overtime victory at home on Jan. 2.

Coastal has won seven of their last eight since that loss thanks in part to their red-hot shooting. The Chants are ranked first in the Big South and second in the nation in overall field goal percentage with a 50.1 clip.

The Camels are second in the Big South in overall field goal percentage with a 49.9 clip. Eric Griffin is averaging 17.0 points and 8.8 rebounds in his last five games.

In the first meeting with Campbell, Anthony Raffa led the Chanticleers with 18 points. Raffa is averaging 21.4 points and 4.2 rebounds in his last five games.

With a win over Charleston Southern last Saturday the Chants have now recorded their third-straight season with 10 or more Big South wins for the first time in school history.

Chris Gradnigo scored a season-high 24 points against CSU while adding seven rebounds, three blocks and three steals. Kierre Greenwood scored a season-high 19 points in the win.

Coastal is the only Big South team not to lose a home conference game this year (6-0)

Campbell enters Tuesday’s game having lost three of its last four after winning four straight. The Fighting Camels were upset against Presbyterian on its home floor Saturday for only its second home loss all year.

Campbell leads the all-time series 20-13 which dates back to 1975.
