Coastal women’s track and field junior Erica Peake has been selected as the Big South Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 23-29.
The Spartanburg native helped the Chanticleers to a strong showing at the Clemson Invitational in Clemson on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 27-28.
Peake ran the lead-off leg of the 4×400-meter relay team that earned a first place finish with a time of 3:49.85. The mark is tops in the Big South Conference this season.
Peake also competed in the 200 meters and took second-place following a time of 24.68 (24.18 with NCAA conversion). Peake currently is ranked first in the conference and 52nd in the NCAA in the 200.
The Chanticleers are competing in the Sykes & Sabock Challenge Cup on Saturday.
