Conway soccer, softball win two of three against Sumter

Conway High took two out of three sporting events from region rival Sumter on Friday night, led by a 7-1 victory by the Lady Tigers’ softball squad.

While Conway and Sumter split a home soccer doubleheader (the Tigers took a 2-1 win over the Gamecocks while the Lady Tigers fell by the same score), Conway was dominating the diamond in Sumter.

Conway pounded out 11 hits in support of starting pitcher Breanna Van Deusen, who scattered six hits and two walks over the full seven innings to get the win. Both she and the Lady Tigers are 3-2 on the season.

Conway was led at the plate by Erin Skipper, Kady Edwards, Madison Gore, and Coker Edge, who contributed two hits apiece. The Lady Tigers return to action at home next Tuesday against Carolina Forest.
