Conway turns double play to score win at West Florence

The Conway High softball team defeated West Florence 3-1 in Region VI-AAAA action on Friday night in Florence.

The Lady Tigers’ (4-4 overall, 2-2 region) three runs were the most they have scored at the Lady Knights’ field in four years.

Erin Skipper (1-for-3), Kady Edwards (1-for-3, double) and Coker Edge (1-for-3, double) led the Lady Tigers’ relative offensive explosion.

But it was the pitching of Breanna Van Deusen (4-4), who scattered four hits over seven innings, striking out four and walking only one, getting the win on the mound, along with the help of the Conway defense.

With the Lady Knights loading the bases with one out in the sixth inning, the Lady Tigers turned a 1-2-3 double play to escape the jam.
