The St. James High softball team got hot late to rally to a 4-0 victory over host Conway on Thursday night.
The Sharks (3-2) broke open a scoreless tie in the fifth inning, scoring all three runs with two outs on the
board. They added an insurance run in the sixth and let their pitching and defense do the rest.
St. James starter Casey Betts allowed only two hits and went the distance for the shutout win, while Conway’s
Breanna Van Deusen took the loss despite a solid outing for all but one inning.
St. James’ Megan Montiegel went 2-for-4 and Alexis Gunnell went 2-for-3 to lead the Lady Sharks’ attack. The
Lady Tigers (2-3) lone hits came from Erin Skipper (1-for-3) and Madison Gore (1-for-3).
Baseball
Conway’s Grant Holmes hit a pair of two-run home runs to lift the Tigers to a 5-3 victory over the Sharks.
