The Conway High softball team suffered an 11-9 loss in a slugfest to region rival South Florence on Friday night.
The Lady Tigers allowed six hits, three runsĀ and committed three errors in the third inning to fall behind by a 9-2 margin.
But Conway rallied and even managed to bring the potential go-ahead run to the plate in the seventh before falling short.
Nicole Rogers got the win for South Florence, which pounded out 14 hits in all Breanna Van Deusen (5-5) took the loss for Conway, which had 13 total hits and saw all 10 players get at least one hit apiece.
Leading hitters for Conway were Erin Skipper (3-for-4), Kady Edwards (2-4), Haylee Owens (1-2), Brandye Huggins (1-4), Monica Wright (1-2), and Emma Cain (1-3).
Conway returns to action next week with key region home games Tuesday and Wednesday with key region rivals at home with West Florence and Sumter, respectively.
Baseball
Conway rallied for four runs in the sixth inning to claim a 5-4 comeback victory over South Florence on Friday night and remain undefeated in region play.
Conway’s Dylan Turner went 3-for-4 and G.K. Young, Bryce McCord and Colby Ard each went 2-for-3, including a home run by Young in the critical inning.
The Tigers (11-2 overall, 5-0 Region VI-AAAA) pounded out 11 hits while Conway starting pitcher Grant Holmes improved to 4-0 on the season with a complete-game four-hitter.
Boys soccer
The Conway High boys soccer team rolled to a 3-0 shutout victory over South Florence on Friday night.
Conway’s Omar Espinoza scored a pair of goals and Ashton McCants added another as the Tigers (5-2) claimed the Region VI-AAAA win.
