Carolina Forest goes deep three times to blast Braves

The Carolina Forest High baseball team exploded for three home runs to blast visiting Socastee for 10-4 victory on Thursday night.

The Panthers (7-5) got a three-run homer from Robert Gray to cap a four-run third inning then got back-to-back solo blasts from Ryan Elko and Ryan Flynn in the fifth to pull away from the Braves (8-3).

Carolina Forest also got a stellar performance from starting pitcher Chris Orlando, who scattered eight hits over six innings and struck out seven to earn the win.

The Braves actually outhit the Panthers by an 11-10 margin, led by Dalton Smith’s 3-for-4 performance at the plate. He also homered for Socastee.

Elko and Flynn went 3-for-4  for the Panthers, who host an out-of-state game against Elizabethton, Tennessee tonight at 6:30 p.m.
