The never-say-die Carolina Forest softball team is on its way to the Class AAAA state championship series.
For the second time in the playoffs, the Lady Panthers rallied for the tying and winning runs in extra innings – this time in a 7-6 victory over visiting Summerville in the Lower State championship on Friday night.
With the game knotted at 5-all entering the 11th inning, the Lady Green Wave managed to plate the tiebreaker-rule runner for a 6-5 advantage.
But, just as they did in their Lower State opener against White Knoll, the Lady Panthers responded to plate the tying and game-winning runs in the bottom of the frame. Check back for more details as they become available.
Carolina Forest will travel to Hillcrest on Monday for the first game in the best-of-three championship series. The Lady Panthers will host Hillcrest on Wednesday and the deciding game, if necessary will be played at a neutral site on Friday.
