Carolina Forest swept by Waccamaw in playoff tuneup

The Warriors built a 2-0 halftime lead on goals by Ryan Tiller and Lucas Vosniak, but the Panthers tried to rally in the second stanza. Senior Peter Gennaro converted a direct free kick at the 53-minute mark and the Panthers had several opportunities to tie it up fall by the wayside in the final stages.

The Carolina Forest defense was led by senior Austin Turbeville with 6 blocks and steals, including a saved goal. Senior keeper Mike Petrizzo also had a solid night between the pipes by making seven saves.

The Panthers finish the regular season at 8-9 overall and 6-2 in Region VI-AAAA, good for second place and a first-round home game when the playoffs start next Tuesday.
