Quinn Gammon of Socastee High won the 108-pound division championship of the Southeast Region Girls Cadet Wrestling Championships over the weekend in Atlanta.
Gammon defeated Courtney Morrell of Tennessee by technical fall, 6-0, in the first period, then took a 7-6 decision in the second period to advance to the finals.
In the championship bout, Gammon defeated Brenda Santos of Florida by a 7-0 technical fall in the first period and a 7-4 decision in the second period to win the title.
“We are very excited to have Quinn on our club team as well as our high school team,” said Socastee High wrestling coach Jeff Gibbins. “I am glad to see her shine on such a grand stage as the Southeast Regionals.”
Gammon earned an automatic bid to the USA Wrestling Nationals later this summer.
