Myrtle Beach High will not only be missing its top girls basketball and golf players from last season. The Lady Seahawks also will be without their head coach.
Brian Kiper, who led the Lady Seahawks to a pair of state basketball championships in 2010 and ’11, is leaving the school to pursue other opportunities in his home state of Ohio.
Kiper will coach golf at his alma mater of Triway High in Wooster, Ohio, while his wife, Jennifer, will coach volleyball at nearby Wayne College in Orville, Ohio. They leave next week.
“We are moving back to Ohio for teaching and coaching opportunities that I could not turn down,” Kiper said. “I appreciate everything the people at Myrtle Beach have done for me. It’s been a great experience.”
Led by 2012 Class AAA Player of the Year Khadijah Sessions, the Lady Seahawks rolled to back-to-back state championships before falling short this past season. Sessions is attending the University of South Carolina
The Myrtle Beach girls golf team also made great strides last season, but rising sophomore Pendleton Bogache is leaving the team to transfer to a school in Virginia.
There is no immediate word on his replacement for either job.
