CAC swimmers break out on Memorial Day weekend

CAC May Breakout I May16Carolina Aquatics (CA) of Columbia, SC hosted their annual May Breakout swim meet this past weekend on the campus of the University of South Carolina. This is long-course season meaning the pool is configured for 50 meters, the same distance used for Olympic swimming.

Ten swim clubs and over 500 swimmers competed.  Coastal Aquatic Club (CAC) had 27 swimmers in the water for the weekend.   We’ll highlight TOP TEN finishes given the University of South Carolina pool is a 10-lane venue.
• Maggie Langdale (also of the University of South Carolina):  3rd in 200 IM; 4th in 100 Back; 4th in 100 Back; and 5th in 100 Fly.
• Peyton Widner:  5th in 50 Fly.
• Taylor Steele: 6th in 100 Breast; 8th in 200 Breast; and 9th in 100 Breast.
• Tyler Eldred (also of Limestone College):  7th in 100 Free; 8th in 50 Free.
• John Grey Crosby:  9th in 50 Free; 10th in 100 Back.

Long-course swimmers attempt to qualify to participate in the South Carolina Long Course Championships to be held July 21-24 in Columbia, SC.  Right now, CAC has 21 students qualified to compete.  CAC swimmers will have further opportunities to qualify for states (or improve their times) at upcoming meets in Greenville and Columbia.

CAC was represented by the following swimmers in the May Breakout meet:  Mason Alford, Adelyn Barbour, Raven Bunton, Kennedy Cox, John Grey Crosby, Alexandra Damonte, Laura Damonte, Ryan Eldred, Tyler Eldred, Gillian Gatley, Lucas Harrelson, Maggie Langdale, Victoria Marinoff; Ari Martinez-Ruiz, Catherine Miller, Casey Mitchell, Mia Paglio, Michael Paglio, Maddi Pannell, Summer Ratley, Camila Sheppard, Taylor Steele, Evan Stinnett, Sammy Trezza, Lexington Whalen, Peyton Widner, and Morgan Young.
