Evans claims ASF opener; Surf/Skate Expo on Sunday

TristonMurrells Inlet’s Shane Evans picked up the first win of the Atlantic Surfing Federation’s 2015 year. Officially, contest number three of the season; Evans won the Open division this past Saturday in rainy, windy conditions at Yucca Avenue in Garden City Beach.

Pawleys Island’s Triston Finley picked up second riding a borrowed board after breaking his own board in round one of the division.  Youngster Tyson Royston came in third, while also winning the boys under 14 division, finishing second in the boys under 16, and winning the boys under 18.

On the girls side, in the under 18 division, Kayia Brand out-surfed Elizabeth Exum and Sarah Bryson for the title.  Bree Labiak defeated Ciara Monday for the girls longboard win. Labiak also picked up wins in the girls under 12, 14, and 16 divisions.
The next contest for the Atlantic Surfing Federation will be held April 11th at Holly Avenue in Garden City Beach. Check http://www.atlanticsurfingsc.org for more details.

This Sunday, the Atlantic Surfing Federation Surf/Skate Expo and Taco Cookoff will be held in the Creek Ratz parking lot in Murrells Inlet. The event will feature live music all day, skateboard demos, surf and skate retailers, and tacos from some of the areas best chefs. It all starts at 1pm and runs till 7pm.
