Beach Ball Classic Primer: Top talent, 16 teams, 1 title

bbc-previewThe 35th Annual Beach Ball Classic tips off Monday with a 16-team field that promises to hold all the high-flying, slam-dunking action the tournament has been known for over the years. Here’s a look at the schools, schedules, teams and talent taking part in the high school hoops showcase.

Three local teams will take part in the six-day event at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, with Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach opening the Beach Ball with an exhibition game against United Faith at 1:45 p.m. Myrtle Beach caps the first day of action against Scott County (KY) at 8:54 p.m.

Tuesday features six games, capped by Socastee vs. Bishop Gorman (NV) at 8:45 p.m. Following a full slate of games on Wednesday, Thursday will feature CAMB vs. Oakbrook Prep at 5 p.m., followed by the crowd-favorite Slam Dunk Contest and 3-Point Shootout. The semifinals and finals will be held Friday and Saturday, with the title game set for 7:30 p.m.
