Beach Ball finals set: Montverde to face LuHi

Montverde Acadmy (FL) earned the final spot in the Championship game of the 2017 Beach Ball Classic with a 76-66 victory over DeMatha (MD) at the Myrtle Beach (SC) Convention Center. RJ Barrett led Montverde (17-0) with 24 points while Makhi Mitchell added 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Justin Moore paced DeMatha (9-1) with 24 points.  Earl Timberlake and Jahmir Young added 12 points each.

Montverde advances to the Championship game and will face Long Island Lutheran (NY) at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday night,  DeMatha will face Cox Mill (NC) for 3rd place with tip-off set for 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Long Island Lutheran 53, Cox Mill 47 – Long Island Lutheran (NY) earned a spot in the Championship game of the 2017 Beach Ball Classic with a 53-47 victory over Cox Mill (NC)  at the Myrtle Beach (SC) Convention Center.

Tykei Greene scored 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field to lead Long Island (6-1).  Frankie Policelli added 12 points and Essam Mostafa tallied 10 points for the Crusaders.

Wendell Moore, Jr. led Cox Mill (11-2) with 12 points, six rebounds and four assists.

Long Island Lutheran advances to the Championship game and will face Montverde (FL) match-up at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday night.  Cox Mill will face Dematha for 3rd place with tip-off set for 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Fairland 62, Myrtle Beach 53 – Fairland (OH) defeated Myrtle Beach (SC) 61-53 in a consolation bracket game of the 2017 Beach Ball Classic at the Myrtle Beach (SC) Convention Center.

Luke Thomas and Kollin Van Horn scored 17 points each to lead Fairland (7-2).  Van Horn also added 11 rebounds and three blocks.

Robert Swanson led Myrtle Beach (5-8) with 21 points as he connected on 8-of-13 from the field.

Imhotep 76, Socastee 57 – Imhotep (PA) defeated Socastee (SC) 76-57 to advance to the 5th place game of the 2017 Beach Ball Classic at the Myrtle Beach (SC) Convention Center.

Chereef Knox led Imhotep with 22 points and 11 rebounds.  Jamil Riggins added 14 points off of the bench while Donta Scott posted 11 points and six boards for the Panthers.

Kenrell Generette led the Braves (6-7) with 25 points and seven rebounds.
