Boys Hoops: MB, Conway stay undefeated in regions

conhoops-4jThe Myrtle Beach High boys basketball team stayed undefeated in Region 7-3A play by defeating visiting Lake City 58-47 on Friday night.

The Seahawks (5-10 overall, 2-0 region) outscored the Panthers 20-11 in the fourth quarter to break open a tight game.

Myrtle Beach was led by Bryce Schneider with 15 points and Will Gray added 13. Lake City’s Clifton McFadden scored a team-high 12.

* Wilson 48, North Myrtle Beach 45: The Chiefs (9-4 overall, 1-1 region) suffered their first region loss of the season when their comeback fell short to the host Tigers.

The Chiefs managed just four points in the first quarter and trailed 21-12 at the half before rallying in the fourth quarter but it was too little, too late.

Steven Bryant led the Chiefs with a season-high 22 points.

* St. James 44, Georgetown 27: The Sharks (10-3 overall, 1-1 Region 7-3A) used balanced scoring and a solid defense to earn a road win over the Bulldogs.

Haywood Brandon scored a game-high 12 points and Jackson Hurston and Zack Werba added seven apiece to help St. James earn its 10th win and even its region record.

* Conway 50, Sumter: The Tigers (13-2 overall 2-0 region) withstood a tough challenge from the Gamecocks to remain undefeated in Region 6-4A play.

* Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach 62, Florence Christian 28: The Saints (13-5 overall, 4-0 region) put together a complete team effort on both ends of the floor to remain undefeated in region play.

CAMB had four players score in double figures, led by Bernard Jones with 12 points, eight rebounds, seven steals and three assists. Josh Lang and Michael Green had 12 points, four rebounds and three steals apiece. and Jaylen Johnson added 11 points and three boards.
