Braves remain undefeated with region win over Chiefs

socwrestle-montageThe Socastee High wrestling team remained undefeated in dual and region action by defeating North Myrtle Beach 67-12.

The Chiefs won matches in the lightest and second highest weight classes, but the Braves swept the rest to improve to 12-0 overall and 2-0 in the region.

NMB’s Christian Coppola (106) won by pin and Jevon Carneige (220) won by forfeit, and the rest was all Socastee.

Female wrestler Quin Gammon (113), Dylan Martin (120), Justin Knipper (126), Logan Gammon (132) and Jordan Hodge (138) delivered five straight pins before teammate Brad Melntsky (145) went the distance for a 13-2 major decision.

Socastee’s Sam McKinney (152) won by forfeit before John Leggett (160), Andrew Badoo (170), Zach Mor (182) and Joe Smolenski (195) came through with four more pins. In the match of the night, heavyweight Kyle Burton too a 2-1 decision from Raeshawn Diggs.
