CAC hosts season-opening Coastal Classic Invitational

cacswim-twogirlsThe Coastal Aquatic Club (CAC) hosted its Sixth Annual Coastal Classic Invitational Swim Meet over the weekend at the Pepper Geddings Recreation Center in Myrtle Beach.

More than 300 swimmers from eight swim clubs from the Carolinas participated, including teams from Bluffton, Clemson, Columbia, Florence, Hilton Head, and Sanford (NC).

CAC had 64 swimmers participating in the event, with 18 CAC swimmers combining to earn 71 top-three finishes. Among CAC swimmers to take the medal stand were:

* Maggie Langdale: 9 first place finishes (400 IM, 500 Free, 200 Back, 50 Free, 100 Fly, 100 Free, 100 Back, 200 Free, 200 IM) and a second place in the 200 Breast.
* Brae Jackson: 8 first-place finishes (400 IM, 500 Free, 100 Back, 50 Free, 50 Fly, 100 Free, 50 Back, and 200 Free)
* Mason Bryan: 5 first-place finishes (200 IM, 400 IM, 500 Free, 100 Fly, 200 Fly), a pair of seconds (100 Back and 200 Back) and a pair of third-place finishes (100 Free and 200 Free).
* Carly Belle Jackson: 4 first-place finishes (100 Back, 25 Free, 25 Fly, 25 Back) and 5 second-place finishes (200 IM, 25 Breast, 50 Free, 50 Breast, and 200 Free).
* Tyler Eldred: 2 first-place finishes (200 Breast, 100 Free), 2nd in 500 Free; and 3rd in the 50 Free and 100 Fly.
* Sophia McKanna:  2 first-place finishes (100 Back, 50 Back) and 3rd in 200 Free.
* Kater Wolff: 2 first-place finishes (200 Back, 100 Back) and 2nd in 50 Free.
* Olivia McGonigal: 1st in 100 Fly; 2nd in 200 Back; and 2nd in 200 Back.
* Kennedy Drew: 1st in 50 Free; 3rd in 100 Fly; 3rd in 100 Free; and 3rdin 200 Free.
* Casey Mitchell: 2nd in 100 Back; 3rd in 200 Breast; 3rd in 100 Breast; 3rd in 200 IM.
* Saman Vitharana: 2nd in 50 Breast; 3rd in 50 Free; and 3rd in 100 Breast.
* Kandes Soapes: 2nd in 50 Free; 2nd in 100 Back.
* Liam Zevgolis: 2nd in 200 Free; 3rd in 200 IM.
* Will Jackson:  3rd in 200 IM.
* Ryan Eldred: 3rd in 50 Fly.
* Emie Jackson: 3rd in 200 Fly.
* Ana Wolff: 3rd in 100 Breast.
* Sean King: 3rd in 100 Back.

For the weekend, CAC swimmers recorded 211 personal best times and earned 23 new State-Qualifying times during the Coastal Classic, including: Mason Bryan(1), Ryan Eldred(2), Tyler Eldred(1), Brae Jackson (1), Carly Jackson (1), Sean King (4), Maggie Langdale (1), Olivia McGonigal (3), Sophia McKanna (1), Casey Mitchell (1), Camille Shklyar (1), Taylor Steele (2), Saman Vitharana (3),and  Kater Wolff (1).

Looking ahead to the upcoming season, CAC will compete in out-of-town meets in Charleston, Clemson, Columbia, Mount Pleasant, Rock Hill and Florence. CAC will also host the Lower-State Palmetto Championship meet in March 2015.
