CAC sending 27 to states following Last-Chance Meet

cac-palmThe Coastal Aquatic Club (CAC) sent 27 swimmers to the Palmetto Aquatics (PALM) Columbia for the Last-Chance Meet over the weekend, the same number of athletes CAC will send to the upcoming Long-Course State Championships in two weeks.

The PALM Summer Invite was the last chance for swimmers to qualify for the State meet and/or improve their seed times for the Championship. Approximately 550 swimmers competed from across both North and South Carolina.

Top CAC performers for the weekend were:

•    Will Jackson won the 50 and 100 meter Freestyle races as well as top 7 finishes in all other events entered.
•    Andre Fachin won the 100 Free while going 2nd in the 50 Free and 3rd in the 100 Fly.
•    Kandes Soapes won the 100 Backstroke.
•    Brae Jackson recorded 3 third place finishes in addition to Top Ten’s in all other races entered.

CAC swimmers recorded 91 personal best times while earning team total of 51 TOP TEN finishes, including:
•    Will Jackson: 1st in 50 Free; 1st in 100 Free; 4th in 100 Breast; 4th in 200 IM; 5th in 100 Back; 6th in 100 Fly; 6th in 50 Breast; 7th in 50 Back.
•    Andre Fachin: 1st in 100 Free; 2nd in 50 Free; 3rd in 100 Fly; 4th in 200 Free; 7th in 400 Free.
•    Kandes Soapes: 1st in 100 Back; 5th in 50 Free; 6th in 200 Back; 9th in 100 Free.
•    Brae Jackson: 3rd in 50 Back; 3rd in 200 Free; 3rd in 50 Fly; 5th in 100 Fly; 5th in 100 Back; 6th in 50 Free; 6th in 100 Free; 10th in 200 IM.
•    Mason Bryan: 3rd in 100 Back; 7th in 200 IM; 8th in 100 Fly; 9th in 200 Back.
•    Emie Jackson: 4th in 100 Back; 6th in 200 Back; 9th in 200 Breast; 10th in 50 Free.
•    Luke La Rochelle: 5th in 50 Free; 9th in 100 Fly.
•    Casey Mitchell:  6th in 400 IM, 7th in 200 Fly.
•    Tyler Eldred: 6th in 50 Free; 9th in 100 Breast; 9th in 200 Breast.
•    Sophia McKanna: 7th in 200 Free; 7th in 50 Free; 8th in 100 back; 10th in 50 Back.
•    Merrit Sparks: 7th in 100 Free.
•    Summer Ratley: 7th in 200 Fly.
•    Richie Drew: 7th in 50 Breast.
•    Lizzy Gatley: 8th in 800 Free; 10th in 100 Back.
•    Kennedy Drew: 8th in 200 Fly.
•    Sean King: 10th in 200 Fly.

Three CAC swimmers earned their first qualifying time for the State Long-Course Championship meet (Addison Hicks, Summer Ratley, and Saman Vitharana).

As a team, 27 CAC swimmers have now qualified for States with a total of 132 event entries.  Further, five CAC swimmers qualified for the multi-state Senior Sectional Meet to be held in Greensboro, NC this upcoming weekend (Mason Bryan, Andre Fachin, Maggie Langdale, Luke La Rochelle, and Kandes Soapes).  Mason Bryan has also been invited to represent CAC at the Southern Zone Senior Championship Meet in Fort Myers, FL later this summer.
