CAC swimmers clean up on medals at Tiger Invitational

The Coastal Aquatic Club (CAC) sent 37 swimmers to compete in the Tiger Invitational, hosted by the Clemson Aquatic Team (CAT), over the weekend at Clemson University with approximately 400 swimmers from 12 swim clubs from South Carolina and Georgia.

CAC’s Harrison Clinton, Ian Morgan and Yuri Costa led the way with multiple first-place finishes along with individual wins by Ryan Boudreau, Joe Guthinger, and Ella Habib. The Fike Recreation Center pool is an 8-lane pool. By meet’s end, over two-thirds of CAC swimmers had registered at least one TOP EIGHT finish.Here is a list of CAC TOP FIVE finishes:

• Harrison Clinton: 1st in 200 Breast; 1st in 100 Breast; 1st in 100 Fly; 1st in 400 IM; 1st in 200 IM; 1st in 200 Fly; 2nd in 200 Free; and 2nd in 50 Free.
• Ian Morgan: 1st in 1,650 Free (i.e., The Mile); 1st in 200 Free; 1st in 400 IM; in 1st in 200 Fly; 2nd in 200 IM; and 3rd in 100 Fly.
• Yuri Costa: 1st in 100 Free; 1st in 50 Free.
• Ryan Boudreau: 1st in 500 Free; 2nd in 100 IM; 2nd in 50 Free; 2nd in 100 Free; and 3rd in 50 Fly.
• Ella Habib: 1st in 50 Back; 2nd in 50 Fly; 3rd in 100 Back; 3rd in 100 Free; and 3rd in 200 Back.
• Joe Guthinger: 1st in 200 Back; 2nd in 1,650 Free (i.e., The Mile); 3rd in 100 Back; 4th in 100 Back; and 4th in 50 Back.
• Casey Mitchell: 2nd in 200 Back; 3rd in 100 Back; 3rd in 400 IM; 4th in 200 Free; 4th in 200 IM; 4th in 100 Breast; and 5th in 200 Fly.
• Chandra Robideaux: 3rd in 50 Back; 4th in 100 IM; and 5th in 50 Free.
• John Grey Crosby: 4th in 50 Free;4th in 200 Back; and 5th in 100 Free.
• Savannah Jansky: 4th in 100 Fly; 5th in 50 Fly.
• Marissa Patricio: 4th in 50 Free; 5th in 400 IM.
• Connor Campbell: 4th in 100 Back; 4th in 200 Back.
• Miles Washington: 4th in 100 Fly.
• Kayla Aguilar: 5th in100 Back; 5th in 50 Breast.
• Logan Mendieta: 5th in 500 Free.
• Samuel Artz: 5th in 50 Breast.
• Anna Satterfield: 5th in 200 Breast.
• Alexander Kuznetsova: 5th in 100 Back.

CAC relay teams also fared well at the meet:

• The Boys 15-and-older 400 Medley Relayteam (Casey Mitchell, Harrison Clinton, John Grey Crosby and Yuri Costa) won the thanks to a strong anchor-leg finish by Yuri Costa.
• The Boys 15-and-older 400 Medley Relayteam (John Grey Crosby, Ian Morgan, Casey Mitchell, and Miles Washington) finished second.
• The Girls 13-14 400 Medley Relay team (Olivia Bailey, Anna Satterfield, Molly Tate, and Marissa Patricio) finished third in both the 400 Medley and 400 Free Relays.
• The Girls 10-and-underRelay team (Savannah Jansky, Kayla Aguilar, Chandra Robideaux, and Jenna Guthinger) finished third in both the 200 Medley and 200 Free Relays.
• The Girls 11-12 200 Medley Relay team (Ella Habib, Mason Alford, Camila Shepard, and Haley Boudreau) finished third.

CAC swimmers have two last-chance opportunities to qualify for the South Carolina Short-Course Championship Meet to be held the weekend of February 15-19 in Greenville. First, CAC will participate in the “Battle at the Beach” Meet hosted by the Bolivia (NC) Aquatics Club in 2 weeks. Then, a final Grand Prix series meet held in Charleston, SC in early February.
