CAC swimmers impress at Coastal Classic Invitational

Coastal Aquatic Club (CAC) hosted its Ninth annual Coastal Classic Invitational Swim Meet over the weekend at the North Myrtle Beach Aquatics and Fitness Center, with several local swimmers turning in top performances.

Approximately 400 swimmers participated in the event, including teams from Bluffton, Charleston, Clemson, Columbia, Florence, and the host Coastal Aquatic Club. With the conclusion of the high school season last week, swimmers now focus their training and competition with their swim clubs.

Over the next 9 months, swimmers will attempt to meet time standards to qualify for the Short-Course State Championship Meet (Greenville in February) and Long-Course State Championship Meet (Columbia in July).

Most teams, including CAC, have swimmers who recently completed their High School state championship meets. CAC swimmers who earned TOP 3 finishes (i.e., on the podium) at their respective High School state meets include: Taylor Steele (AAAAA State Champion, 100 Breast), Casey Mitchell (AAAA State Champion, 500 Free), Kater Wolff, Ian Morgan, Olivia McGonigal, and John Grey Crosby.

CAC had 78 swimmers participating in this event. Swimmers competed in the following age group categories: 8 and under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, and 15 and older. By meet’s end, 39CACswimmers (half of the meet team) combined to earn131TOP 8 finishes (the NMB Aquatics Center is an 8-lane pool), and, more exclusively, 13 swimmers combined for 50 TOP 3 finishes, including 27 first-place finishes.
