CAC swimmers earn state bids at Last Chance Meet

caclastchanceCoastal Aquatic Club sent 24 swimmers to compete in the 2015 Last Chance Meet over the weekend at the Hilton Head Island Rec Center.

CAC swimmers earned 48 top 3 finishes by 13 different swimmers and 79 top 5 finishes by 19 different swimmers.  Here’s a breakdown of the top-5 finishes:

•    Casey Mitchell: 1st in 100 Back; 1st in 100 Breast; 1st in 200 IM; 1st in 1,000 Free; 1st in 100 Free; 1st in 500 Free; 2nd in 200 Back; and 2nd in 200 Free.
•    Andre Fachin: 1st in 50 Free; 1st in 100 Fly; 1st in 100 Free; 1st in 200 Free; 2nd in 100 Back; 3rd in 200 IM; and 4th in 200 Fly.
•    Taylor Steele: 1st in 100 Breast; 1st in 200 Breast; 3rd in 50 Free; 3rd in 200 IM; and 4th in 100 Free.
•    Mason Bryan: 1st in 100 Back; 2nd in 100 Fly; 2nd in 100 Breast; 2nd in 200 IM; 2nd in 200 Fly; 2nd in 200 Free; 3rd in 200 Breast; and 5th in 100 Free.
•    Sophia McKanna: 1st in 100 Back; 2nd in 50 Back; 2nd in 200 Free; 3rd in 50 Free; 4th in 50 Fly; 4th in 100 Free; 4th in 110 Breast; and 5th in 100 IM.
•    Summer Ratley: 1st in 100 Fly; 2nd in 200 Fly.
•    Gillian Gatley:  1st in 100 Fly; 5th in 50 Back.
•    Sean King: 2nd in 100 Back; 2nd in 100 Fly; 3rd in 100 Breast; 3rd in 200 Back; 3rd in 200 Fly; 4th in 50 Free; and 5th in 100 Free.
•    Lizzy Gatley: 2nd in 200 IM; 2nd in 1,650 Free (i.e., The Mile); 3rd in 100 Back; 3rd in 200 Back; and 5th in 200 Free.
•    Kater Wolff: 2nd in 100 Back; 4th in 200 Back; 5th in 50 Free; 5th in 200 Fly.
•    Connor Campbell: 2nd Place in 100 Back; 5th in 100 Fly.
•    Anna Wolff: 3rd in 100 Breast; 3rd in 200 Breast; 3rd in 200 Free; 4th in 100 Free; and 5th in 200 Back.
•    Liam Zevgolis: 3rd in 100 Fly; 3rd in 500 Free; 4th in 50 Free; 4th in 200 IM; 4th in 100 Free; and 4th in 200 Free.
•    April Ratley: 4th in 100 Breast; 4th in 200 Breast; 4th in 200 IM.
•    Laura Damonte:  4th in 100 Free; 5th in 25 Back.
•    Jane Wolff: 4th in 50 Back; 5th in 100 Back.
•    Connor Steele:   4th 200 Back.
•    David Zevgolis: 4th in 100 Fly.
•    Catherine Miller: 5th in 200 Back.

As the Last Chance name suggests, this was the last meet for CAC swimmers to qualify for the Short-Course Championship meet in February in Greenville, SC.

Overall, 25 CAC swimmers have qualified for the State Meet: Mason Bryan, Kennedy Drew, Ryan Eldred, Tyler Eldred, Lizzy Gatley, Addison Hicks, Brae Jackson, Carly Belle Jackson, Catherine Jackson, Emie Jackson, Sean King, Ty Kinner-Costello, Luke La Rochelle, Maggie Langdale, Olivia McGonigal, Casey Mitchell, April Ratley, Summer Ratley, Camile Shklyar, Kandes Soapes, Taylor Steele, Saman Vitharana, Ana Wolff, and Kater Wolff.

Three CAC swimmers (Brae Jackson, Olivia McGonigal, and Kater Wolff) are now qualified for the Age Group Sectional meet (for ages 8-14) at Georgia Tech in March 2015 while six CAC swimmers (Maggie Langdale, Kandes Soapes, Luke Larochelle, Mason Bryan, Tyler Eldred, and Andre Fachin) are now qualified for the Senior Sectional meet (for ages 15 and older) in March 2015 (site to be determined).   And, in a still more exclusive meet, Maggie Langdale, Kandes Soapes, and Mason Bryan have now qualified for NCSA Junior Nationals in Orlando, FL in March 2015.  More swimmers can qualify for these meets with qualifying times in the upcoming State meet.
