CAC swimmers make major splash at Clemson Classic

cac swimmers at clemson classic 2014 ii (2)The Coastal Aquatic Club took part in the 2014 Clemson Classic Meet at Clemson University over the weekend.

Twenty-nine swimmers from the CAC participated in the meet, along with 11 teams from the Carolinas and Georgia. CAC swimmers recorded 11 first-place finishes, including Mason Bryan (100 Fly, 1,000 Free, 200 Fly, 200 Breast); Casey Mitchell (400 IM, 200 IM, 100 Fly); Brae Jackson (1,000 Free, 100 Back); Camile Shklyar (50 Fly); and Kater Wolff (100 Back).

CAC swimmers earned 95 top-five finishes and posted 79 personal-best times in their respective events. Twenty CAC swimmers recorded TOP FIVE finishes during the meet, including:

• Mason Bryan: 1st in 100 Fly; 1st in 1,000 Free; 1st in 200 Fly; 1st in 200 Breast; 3rd in 100 Free; 3rd in 100 Back; 4th in 50 Free; 4th in 200 Free.

• Casey Mitchell: 1st in 400 IM; 1st in 100 Fly; 1st in 200 IM; 2nd in 100 Free; 2nd in 200 Back; 2nd in 1,000 Free; 2nd in 200 Fly; 2nd in 200 Free; 2nd in 100 Back;  3rd in 200 Breast.

• Brae Jackson: 1st in 1,000 Free; 1st in 100 Back; 2nd in 200 Back; 2nd in 100 Fly; 3rd in 400 IM; 3rd in 100 Free; 3rd in 100 IM; 5th in 50 Free.

• Kater Wolff: 1st in 100 Back; 2nd in 200 Back; 3rd in 50 Free; 4th in 100 Fly; 4th in 200 Fly; 5th in 100 Free; 5th in 200 IM.

• Camile Shklyar: 1st in 50 Fly; 3rd in 100 Fly; 5th in 500 Free; 5th in 200 IM; 5th in 100 IM.

• Ana Wolff: 2nd in 50 Free; 2nd in 100 Free; 2nd in 100 Breast; 3rd in 100 Fly; 3rd in 200 IM; 4th in 200 Free; 4th in 100 Back; 5th in 200 Breast; 5th in 200 Fly.

• Liam Zevgolis: 2nd in 100 Free; 2nd in 200 Free; 3rd in 50 Free; 3rd in 200 Fly; 4th in 1,000 Free; 4th in 200 IM; 4th in 200 Breast.

• Carly Belle Jackson: 2nd in 200 IM; 2nd in 50 Fly; 4th in 50 Back; 4th in 100 Fly; 5th in 200 Free; 5th in 100 Free; 5th in 100 Back.

• Taylor Steele: 2nd in 100 Breast; 3rd in 200 IM; 4thin 50 Free; 5th in 100 Fly.

• Connor Campbell: 2nd in 100 Fly; 4th in 50 Back; 4th in 50 Fly; 4th in 100 Back; 5th in 200 IM.

• Emie Jackson: 3rd in 100 Back; 4th in 200 Back; 4th in 200 Fly; 4th in 200 IM; 5th in 100 Fly; 5th in 1,000 Free.

• Will Jackson: 3rd in 200 IM; 4th in 50 Breast; 4th in 50 Back; 4th in 200 Free; 4th in 100 Breast; 5th in 100 Fly; 5th in 100 Free; 5th in 100 Back.

• Kennedy Drew: 3rd in 200 Fly; 4th in 100 Fly; 4th in 100 Free; 4th in 200 Breast; 5th in 50 Free.

• Jane Wolff: 3rd in 200 IM; 3rd in 100 Breast.

• Summer Ratley: 3rd in 200 Fly; 5th in 400 IM; 5th in 1,000 Free.

• David Zevgolis: 4th in 100 Fly; 4th in 200 IM; 5th in 100 IM.

• Lizzy Gatley: 4th in 200 Back; 4th in 100 Back.

• Gillian Gatley: 4th in 200 IM.

• Catherine Jackson: 4th in 50 Free.

• Connor Steele: 5th in 1,000 Free.

At this point in the short-course season, 23 CAC swimmers have already qualified for the State Championship meet in Greenville, SC, in February. They are:

• Girls:  Kennedy Drew, Elizabeth Gatley, Addy Hicks, Brae Jackson, Carly Jackson, Catherine Jackson, Emie Jackson, Maggie Langdale, Anastasia Liakos, Olivia McGonigal, April Ratley, Summer Ratley, Camille Shklyar, Kandes Soapes, Ana Wolff, and Kater Wolff.

• Boys: Mason Bryan, Ryan Eldred, Tyler Eldred, Sean King, Luke Larochelle, Casey Mitchell, and Saman Vitharana.
