CAC swimmers qualify for State at Last-Chance meet

CAC-PALM15Palmetto Aquatics (PALM) of Columbia, SC hosted their Last-Chance Summer Invite meet this past weekend on the campus of the University of South Carolina. With the Long-Course State Championship meet approaching (July 23-26), the PALM Summer Invite was the last chance for swimmers to qualify for the State meet and/or improve their seed times for the Championship.   The Coastal Aquatic Club (CAC) sent 23 swimmers to the meet. Top CAC performers for the weekend were:

  • Andre Fachin won 4 events and posted 5 TOP 5 finishes.
  • Tyler Eldred posted 4 2nd places finishes (3 to Andre Fachin) and 7 TOP 5 finishes.
  • Casey Mitchell earned 4 TOP 5 finishes.
  • Connor Campbell (3rd) and Taylor Steele (pair of 5th place finishes) rounded out the TOP 5 finishers for CAC.

 

In total, 12 CAC swimmers combined for 36 TOP TEN finishes, including:

  • Andre Fachin: 1st in 50 Free; 1st in 100 Free; 1st in 200 Free; 1st in 100 Fly; and 5th in 100 Back.
  • Tyler Eldred: 2nd in 50 Free; 2nd in 100 Free; 2nd in 200 Free; 2nd in 100 Breast; 3rd in 200 IM; 3rd in 100 Fly, and 4th in 200 Breast.
  • Casey Mitchell: 2nd in 100 Back; 4th in 200 Breast; 4th in 100 Free; and 5th in 400 Free.
  • Connor Campbell: 3rd in 100 Back; 6th in 100 Fly; 7th in 200 Free; 7th in 50 Fly; and 9th in 200 IM.
  • Taylor Steele: 5th in 200 Breast; 5th in 100 Breast; 7th in 50 Free; and 9th in 200 IM.
  • John Grey Crosby: 6th in 100 Free; 6th 50 Free; 8th in 100 Back; and 8th in 200 Back.
  • Kennedy Drew: 6th in 200 Fly and 8th in 100 Free.
  • Peyton Widner: 6th in 50 Fly.
  • Michael Dear: 7th in 50 Free.
  • Summer Ratley: 8th in 200 Fly;
  • Sophia Murphy: 10th in 50 Free.
  • Liam Zevgolis: 10th in 50 Free.

 

Over this long-course season, 30 CAC have qualified for States (the largest number in team history), including: Mason Bryan, Connor Campbell, John Grey Crosby, Michael Dear; Kennedy Drew, Tyler Eldred, Andre Fachin, Lizzy Gatley, Addison Hicks, Brae Jackson, Carly Belle Jackson, Catherine Jackson, Emie Jackson, Will Jackson, Sean King, Maggie Langdale, Luke LaRochelle, Olivia McGonigal, Casey Mitchell, Sophia Murphy, April Ratley, Summer Ratley, Kandes Soapes, Taylor Steele, Miles Washington, Peyton Widner, Ana Wolff, Jane Wolff, Kater Wolff, and Liam Zevgolis. Additionally, two swimmers who train with CAC during the summer (Merritt Sparks of Wright State University (OH) and Sydney Sparks of Dayton, OH), will also compete in States.
