CAC swimmers record 20 top-10 finishes at state meet

cac-tates 2015 (2)South Carolina Swimming hosted the annual Short Course Championship meet February 13-16, 2015 in Greenville, SC.

This year, 807 swimmers from 19 swim clubs qualified to participate.  Locally, Coastal Aquatic Club (CAC) had 26 swimmers qualify with 24 swimmers competing in 103 individual events.

During the meet, these swimmers posted personal best times in 57% of their races.
Over the 4-day competition, six CAC swimmers combined for 20 TOP TEN finishes:

•    Brae Jackson – 4th in 200 Back; 5th in 50 Back; 7th in 500 Free;  7th in 50 Free; 8th in 1,000 Free; 9th in 100 Free; and 10th in 100 Back.
•    Maggie Langdale – 3rd in 100 Back; 5th in 200 Back; 6th in 400 IM; 8th in 100 Fly; and 8th in 50 Free.
•    Luke LaRochelle –3rd in 50 Free; 3rd in 100 Free; and 4th in 100 Fly.
•    Mason Bryan – 2nd in 100 Back; 7th in 100 Fly; and 9th in 400 IM.
•    Kandes Soapes – 5th in 100 Back.
•    Kater Wolff – 6th in 100 Back.

Mason Bryan, a finalist in multiple events in prior years, incurred a leg injury and was forced to limit his swimming to selected events.

CAC swimmers posted 17 new Team records during the meet:
1.    Brae Jackson – 50 Back, 200 Back, and 500 Free
2.    Taylor Steele –50 Breast, 100 Breast, and 200 Breast.
3.    Olivia McGonigal – 50 Fly and 100 Fly
4.    Kater Wolff – 50 Back and 100 Back
5.    Ana Wolff – 50 Breast and 100 Breast
6.    Maggie Langdale – 50 Fly and 100 Fly
7.    Kennedy Drew – 200 Fly
8.    Luke Larochelle – 50 Free
9.    Mason Bryan – 50 Back

Over this short-course season, 11 CAC swimmers earned the right to compete in the Sectional meets.  This is the highest number of Sectional qualifiers in the history of the swim club.

* Ryan Eldred, Lizzy Gatley, Brae Jackson, Olivia McGonigal, and Kater Wolff will represent CAC at the Age Group Sectional meet (for ages 8-14) at Georgia Tech in March 2015.

* Maggie Langdale, Kandes Soapes, Luke Larochelle, Mason Bryan, Tyler Eldred, and Andre Fachin will represent CAC at the Senior Sectional meet (for ages 15 and older) at the Greensboro (NC) Aquatic Center in March 2015.

And, in a still more exclusive meet, Maggie Langdale, Kandes Soapes, and Mason Bryan qualified for NCSA Junior Nationals in Orlando, FL in March 2015.
