Cavs-Chants headlines big baseball-opening weekend

ccubase-celebThe Coastal Carolina baseball program, ranked as high as #21 in the preseason polls, will open the 2016 season by hosting the eighth annual Caravelle Resort Tournament at the fully completed Springs Brooks Stadium.

The Chants will face Appalachian State on Friday (Feb. 19) at 4 pm and #10 North Carolina State on Saturday at 2 pm. Coastal will conclude the event by hosting fourth-ranked and defending national champion Virginia on Sunday. First pitch for Sunday’s game between the Chanticleers and Cavaliers has been moved to 1 pm and will be broadcast on ESPN3.

Other games as part of the Caravelle Resort Tournament will be played in Myrtle Beach at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. Friday’s games will pit Old Dominion against NC State at 11 am with Kent State facing Virginia at 4 pm. Saturday’s contests includes Kent State playing Old Dominion at 11 am, followed by Virginia squaring off against Appalachian State at 4 pm. The games Sunday features NC State versus Kent State at 11 am and App State versus Old Dominion at 4 pm.

FOR THE FANS AT PELICANS BALLPARK
* Gates Open one hour prior to first pitch.
* There is no need to purchase tickets in advance and all seating is general admission.
* Free parking is available in the lot beyond right field. The best way to enter the lot is off the Robert Grissom Parkway. The ONLY entrance into the facility will be through the main ticket booth closest to the parking lot down the right field line. Admission will be collected for each game.
*  Outside food and drinks are not permitted. Concessions will be available.
