CCU reloads with class of 18 on Early Signing Day

Coastal Carolina announced the signing of 18 student athletes on Wednesday’s Early Signing Day in hopes of bolstering their new status in the NCAA Football Bowl Series and full membership in the Sun Belt Conference.

The players were announced during a Wednesday press conference featuring recruiting coordinator Cory Bailey and interim head coach Jamey Chadwell. The expressed cautious optimism about the early signing class, particularly at the skill positions. They inked two quarterbacks and three at both running back and wide receiver.

The Chants expanded their recruiting territory, signing players from as far away as California, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania. But the Southeast continued to produce the bulk of the class, with five hailing from Georgia and three from North Carolina. No in-state players were signed but more scholarships are available for February’s National Signing Day.
