CCU soccer hosts Marshall in final exhibition contest

The Coastal Carolina University men’s soccer team will host its first match of the season Saturday after losing exhibition road games to top-five ranked Clemson and North Carolina.

CCU will host Marshall Saturday at 7 p.m. at the CCU Soccer Stadium.  It will be the third and final exhibition match for the Chanticleers before the start of the regular season, but it will be the first time CCU fans will get a glimpse of the 19th-ranked team in the nation on its home pitch.

CCU has eight returners back from last season’s Sun Belt Champions and looks to be back at the top of the conference in 2017.  Leading the team will be 2016 First Team All-Sun Belt pick, and 2017 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List honoree Frantzdy Pierrot.

The regular season will begin Aug. 25 with the Chants on the road at George Mason at 1 p.m.  CCU’s first regular season home match will be Fri. Sept. 1 at 7:30 p.m., when CCU will host UNC Greensboro.
