CF girls, MB boys swim to titles at NMB Invitational

The Carolina Forest girls and Myrtle Beach boys swim teams captured first place at the 11-team North Myrtle Beach Invitational on Saturday.

The Lady Panthers remain undefeated on the season, and the Carolina Forest boys took second place to claim the combined title. The Carolina Forest girls and boys teams combined for 225 points. St. James took second place with 151 points.

The Carolina Forest girls relay teams of Jensen Helgerson. Anna Satterfield, Anna Fortenberry, Taylor Steele and Peyton McWhorter won both the 200 Medley Relay and the 200 Freestyle Relay. Morgan Young placed third in the 200 Freestyle. Taylor Steele got the double win in the 50 Freestyle and 100 Breaststroke while McWhorter won both the 100 Butterfly and 100 Freestyle.

For the Carolina Forest boys, David Zevgolis finished second in the 200 Freestyle and fourth in the 100 Butterfly. Harrison placed first in both the 200 Individual Medley and the 100 Breaststroke. Josh Duque placed third in his debut of the grueling 500 Freestyle.

The North Myrtle Beach girls finishing a close second to Carolina Forest. The Chiefs were led by strong performances swam by Jenna Downey, Sydney Hardman, Shea Hardman, Brynne Hardman, Summer Ratley for the girls and Joey Marinello, Connor Britt Tripp, Shawn Plotnikov, and JP Stephenson for the boys.

Local swimmers return to the NMB Aquatic and Fitness Center pool at 9 a.m. Saturday for the Regional Championship.
