The Coastal Carolina University football team will open the 2018 season on the road, but the Chanticleers won’t have to travel very far to face a top-level , in-state opponent.
Coastal will kick off the 2018 season against South Carolina on Sept. 1 at Williams Brice Stadium, according to the Southeastern Conference’s release of next season’s schedule on Tuesday.
It will be Coastal Carolina’s second trip to Columbia to face the Gamecocks. South Carolina downed Coastal 70-10 during the 2013 season, before Coastal\s current move up to the FBS level.
The Gamecocks play their first three games at home, with Georgia (Sept. 8) and Marshall (Sept. 15) visiting after the season opener. South Carolina travels to Vanderbilt (Sept. 22) and Kentucky Sept. 29) before returning home to host Missouri (Oct. 6), Texas A&M (Oct. 13) and Tennessee (Oct. 27). The Gamecocks close the season at Ole Miss (Nov. 3), and Florida (Nov. 10), before hosting Chattanooga (Nov. 17) and traveling to Clemson (Nov. 24).
