Chants sign 25 to bolster step up to FBS, Sun Belt

ccufoot-moglia2017nsdMaking the move to the Football Bowl Series and the Sun Belt Conference in 2017, the Coastal Carolina University football program took a big step in terms of improving quality and quantity on National Signing Day.

The Chanticleers signed 25 players, including six mid-year signees who will participate in spring workouts, CCU coach Joe Moglia announced Wednesday. The class includes nine from the Palmetto State but also reflects a more national approach with players hailing from 10 different states.

The Chants also addressed their pressing need for depth at the quarterback position by bringing in Syracuse graduate transfer Austin Wilson and signing Darius Harper from Knoxville, TN. Coastal also added six offensive linemen, including Carolina Forest product Antwine Loper.
