Clark captures Open title in 16th Guy Daniels Memorial

surfoffShawn Clark won the Open and Senior Men’s and Men’s Longboard 35-and-up divisions of the 16th Annual Guy Daniels Memorial Surf-Off in Surfside Beach over the weekend.

Bree Labiak won the Women’s and Menehune divisions, and Trip Chandler captured the Men’s Menehune Longboard and the Longboard 15-24 age group.

Other division winners include Reid Largin (Boys), Connor Johnson (Junior Men), Chris Moore (Men), Craig Gasque (Masters), Olivia Wendel (Girls), Doug Henderson (Men’s Longbaord 25-34), Sara Bryson (Women’s Longbaord) and Judd Nickel (Bodyboard).

The two-day contest was held in memory of Guy Daniels, a late Surfside Beach resident who died in 1999 at the age of 19. A student at the College of Charleston, Guy spent his summers as a lifeguard in Surfside Beach and worked at a local surf shop.
