Coast FA, Beach United kick off fall soccer season

coastfa-lilpupsCoast FA brought home five championships and one finalist showing over the weekend at the Triangle United Fall Classic in Chapel Hill, N.C.

“Our teams battled both intense heat and terrific competition in the first event of the fall slate. This tournament is a great way to prepare our kids for the coming season. Bringing home five championships from a tournament this size is a nice accomplishment,” said Coast DOC Ross Morgan.

Coach Justin Wolf’s squads ran the table, posting eight consecutive wins with his two teams. The Coast 07 Red claimed first place in the top division of U-10 boys, and his Coast 08 combined team swept the U-9 first division.

“Having this much success at our first event certainly sets the bar high for the remainder of the season. The boys exceeded my expectations” said Coach Wolf.

Championships were also claimed at top level of U-14 and U-13 boys. Coach Jason Mueller led the Coast 03 Red to two wins and a tie in U-14 pool play before capturing the final in a 1-0 heart-stopper. Coach John Weaver posted identical 3-0-1 results in the round-robin format of U-13 with his Coast 04 Red team to claim top honors.

In his first tournament with the Coast 07g Red girls, Coach Thomas Tamale guided his team through four highly contested matches to bring home the championship trophy in the first division of U-10.

The Coast 06g Red, coached by Stepheney Burnett, fell 2-0 in the finals of first division U-11 girls to receive the finalist trophy.

* Three Beach United Football Club boys teams kicked off the 2016 soccer season in solid form in the Carolina Fall Classic in Spartanburg.

The BUFC Legends went 3-1 and put up some impressive numbers in the U-14 Elite Division, shutting out CRFC Sky 16-0 and GSA 04 Premier 5-0. They beat the same team 5-2 and suffered their only loss to GSA Premier 5-1.

The BUFC U-18 Tiempo finished second in their bracket despite playing up in theĀ  U-19 Elite Division. The Tiempo won a pair of games over the SAFC Lokuji Stars and GSA White 99s by identical 2-0 scores and lost to the eventual champion Carolina FC 98s by a 7-1 score.

The BUFC U-19 Mundial had some tough games go against them in a 1-0 loss to SSC 98B Select White and a 3-1 defeat to eventual champion Carolina FC by a 3-1 score. They also tied the Lakelands Toros 1-1 and had another game cancelled due to inclement weather.
