Coastal announces home schedule for 2013 season

The Coastal Carolina Department of Athletics announced its 2013 home football game times, as well as start times for four of its six road games.

The Chanticleers will play their first four games of the season at 6 pm and host Charlotte and Presbyterian in November at 3 pm.

Coastal’s first four games – two on the road and two at home – will have 6 pm starts. The Chanticleers will open the 2013 season on Aug. 31 on the road at South Carolina State. The following week (Sept. 7), Coastal will play its 2013 home opener, hosting Furman at 6 pm for High School Band Day. Coastal hits the road in week three to play at Eastern Kentucky (Sept. 14) before returning to Brooks Stadium Sept. 21 to host Hampton as part of the University’s Family Weekend.

The Chanticleers end the opening month at Elon on Sept. 28. Kickoff for versus the Phoenix has not been announced. Coastal will then enjoy a bye week.

Second year head coach Joe Moglia and the Chants will begin its defense of the 2012 Big South Championship on Oct. 12 at 6 pm, hosting Gardner-Webb for Cheer Camp and Church Group Day. After a trip to Liberty (Oct. 19 at 3:30 pm), Coastal will host VMI on Oct. 26 at 6 pm as well as host “Heroes on Parade.”

Coastal Carolina will open November by hosting Charlotte on the 2nd at 3 pm. That contest will be the culmination of the University’s Homecoming week as well as be Youth Day at Brooks Stadium. The following week CCU will travel to Charleston Southern (Nov. 9) with a 1:30 kickoff. Coastal will play its final regular-season home game Nov. 16 versus Presbyterian College at 3 pm. That contest will also be Youth Football Day at Brooks Stadium.

The Chanticleers will conclude the regular season at South Carolina on Nov. 23. Kickoff for that game will be announced no later than 12 days prior to the contest.

For more information on the special “days” at Brooks Stadium, contact Kevin Olivett in the marketing department or Michael Jacobs in the athletics ticket office.

As a reminder to fans, the deadline to reserve your seats for the 2013 season is July 12. Also, please consider when making your renewals that the Coastal Carolina sideline will now be on the west side of Brooks Stadium (closest to Highway 544).

July 12 is additionally the deadline to put down a deposit for men’s basketball and make your Chanticleer Athletic Foundation donation in order to be included in the football and men’s basketball select-a-seat days later this summer. For questions of more information, call the CCU Athletics Ticket Office at 843-347-8499.
