Coastal goes local to find talent-rich recruiting class

The Coastal Carolina University football program took some heat when its early signing period lineup included zero student-athletes from the state of South Carolina.

The Chants more than made it for it Wednesday by signing seven players from the Palmetto State, including hometown product and Conway High linebacker Noah Freshley.

Other CCU signees included two other Horry County products – offensive linemen Trevor Goude (Aynor) and Jacob Porter (Loris). Fellow South Carolinians to sign were athlete Tyriq Goodman (Newberry), wide receiver Conner McCarthy (Wando), defensive back Jordan Morris (Rock Hill) and running back Javontay Robinson (Trinity-Byrnes).
