Coastal’s Peake, Nicholson capture Big South honors

Senior Erica Peake has been named the Big South Conference Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for the second time already this season, while senior Anjulia Nicholson earned honorable mention honors from the league, it was announced on Wednesday.

Peake won two individual events and played a part in setting two school records during last weekend’s Virginia Tech Invitational to earn the fifth conference weekly indoor honor of her career.

The standout sprinter set a new CCU mark of 23.96 in winning the 200 meters and clocked a personal-best time of 7.46 to take first in the 60-meter dash. Peake also helped the 4×400 relay team to a runner-up finish with a school-record time of 3:45.76. She clocked a split of 55.1 in the anchor leg. In addition, the Spartanburg native established a new personal-best of 18-10.75 in the long jump to place third in the meet.
