One year after the Los Angeles Dodgers made him their first-round draft pick, Conway High product Grant Holmes heard his name called again for a baseball honor – 2015 Midwest League All-Star.
The hard-throwing righty was one of three members of the Great Lakes Loons to earn all-star status. Holmes, who remains undefeated in his first full season of minor-league ball, is 3-0 with a 3.22 ERA.
Holmes has pitched 44 2/3 innings as a starter, striking out 58 batters (third best in the league) to 24 walks. He had a nine-strikeout performance in his last victory, allowing only one hit over six innings.
Holmes will take part in the Midwest League All-Star Classic on June 23 at Dozier Park in Peoria, Illinois.
